I keep my cupboard stocked with magic erasers because they are a jack of all trades. They have their uses that they have been marketed for but, just like many other things in your house, they have several other uses. Here are some of my favorite creative uses:
Labels
Trying to get the labels off of jars and dishware before we can use them is a pain. Magic erasers can make it much easier. Soak the jar or dishware in hot water until the label starts to get soft. Once the label is soft, remove it from the water and use a magic eraser on it. The label will come off easily.
Jeans
When ink, crayons or marker gets on your jeans they are done for right? Wrong!! Dampen a magic eraser and rub on the spot. It should come right out. *Test a small spot first as sometimes it can remove the fabric dye as well*
Dirty Shoes
Shoes get dirty no matter how hard we try to keep them clean. If your shoes need a little cleaning up you can use a magic eraser. They work great on the rubber parts of the shoe and the fabric parts. *Be sure to spot check by cleaning a small spot first*
Rust
Magic erasers can remove rust from just about anything. Might take a bit of elbow grease a couple of tries but, it will work.
Grout
Grout can be a pain to clean. Using a magic eraser makes it much easier and the grout looks amazing when you are done.
Stubborn Whiteboard Residue
At some point, that erasable whiteboard marker leaves behind a smeared mess when you are trying to erase it. Use a magic eraser to clean off the residue.
Mirrors
If your mirrors are smudged up and messy, take a magic eraser to them. It will easily remove everything. As a bonus if used in the bathroom, they temporarily will help to keep the mirror from fogging over.
Hair Dye
Dying your hair can get messy. There are always spots in my sink and on my counter after I am done. Cleaning the dye off can seem almost impossible. Thankfully, using a magic eraser will take the dye right off any surfaces that it happens to land on.
Pollen
When your patio furniture gets covered with pollen, use a magic eraser to wipe it all off.
Soap Scum
Soap scum is almost inevitable. Magic eraser will easily cut through and make cleaning the soap scum off of your shower door and bathtub much easier.
Microwave
The microwave is one place I forget to clean. This means by the time I finally remember, there is a lot of cooked on food. A magic eraser takes the hard work out of cleaning all of that stuck on food out. No more scrubbing for what seems like forever!
Scuff Marks
No matter where the scuff marks are, a magic eraser will take them off. Just be sure to spot check it (especially with flat paint) as sometimes magic erasers can remove or fade color.
Dried Paint
When painting, small splatters tend to get on the windows, door hinges or baseboards so easily. A magic eraser will remove those spots of dried paint.
Oven Hood
The oven hood is almost always caked with grease and grime. It can take forever to clean. Magic erasers will wipe the grease and grime right away.
Concreate
If stains on your concrete are bugging you, a magic eraser will remove the stains for you.
Toilet Bowl
Cut a magic eraser in half and drop it into your toilet bowl. Let it sit overnight. When you get up in the morning the bowl should be clean of any rings that were there.
Tarnished Silver
Your magic eraser can also remove the tarnish from your sliver.
Dish Drainer
Over time, your dish drainer tends to accumulate build up. Rather than buying a new one, take your magic eraser and clean it.
This is just the start of the magic erasers uses. It is for this reason that I keep my cupboard stocked with magic erasers and why I call them a jack of all trades. Did any of these uses surprise you?
