Stovetop Potpourri Gift Bags
If you’re looking for a simple, sweet little gift that smells amazing and looks adorable—this one’s for you. Stovetop potpourri (or “simmer pot”) is basically the cozy scent of the holidays in a bag. You just toss everything in a pot with a little water and let it simmer, and suddenly your whole house smells like you’ve been decorating pine trees all day. If you want to just make a big pot for yourself use this recipe!

I’ve been putting together these stovetop potpourri gift bags using fresh fruit, herbs, and spices, and packaging them in piping bags for the cutest, no-fuss presentation. They’re perfect for teacher gifts, neighbors, friends—honestly anyone who loves that warm, homey vibe. Plus, they come together fast, which we all know is a win during the holiday chaos!
Grab your oranges, cinnamon sticks, and a little ribbon—let’s make your kitchen smell amazing and check off a few gifts from that list at the same time.

Supplies Needed:
- ½ cup cranberries – These little red berries add a pop of color and a hint of tart sweetness that makes the bag look festive and smell amazing.
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves – Cloves bring that cozy, spicy scent that instantly says “holiday season.” A little goes a long way! You can also add star anise -they are gorgeous!
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon – This adds an extra layer of warm, comforting fragrance to your simmer pot.
- 1 fresh rosemary sprig – Rosemary gives a fresh, woodsy note that balances all the sweet and spicy smells.
- 1 orange – Slice it up for that bright citrus aroma and a gorgeous touch of color inside the bag.
- 2 cinnamon sticks – These not only look pretty but release the perfect amount of warm spice when simmered.
- 12-inch piping bags – These make the perfect clear packaging so your ingredients peek through (and they’re easy to tie up, too).
- Ribbon – Use a festive ribbon to tie off the top of your bag and add that homemade, thoughtful touch.
- Printable gift tag – Attach my cute tag with instructions so your recipient knows how to use it.
- Hole puncher – You’ll need this to punch a small hole in your tag so you can tie it onto your bag with the ribbon.
