Kids always love to play with puppets so I decided to make a water bottle turkey to play with! It's a fun activity for them to make around Thanksgiving time. I would recommend you space this craft out between two days since there are quite a few steps and it needs time to dry.
Materials Needed:
- Water bottle
- Brown paint
- Feathers
- Glue / Tape
- Yellow, orange, white, and red paper
- Scissors
- Popsicle stick
Start by cutting the top of a water bottle off, just under the wrapper. Take some brown paint and cover the whole bottle with it. While that is drying cut out the shape of a turkey's feathers with yellow paper.
Glue some red, yellow, and orange feathers onto the yellow paper having some stick out of the top. Squirt some glue in the middle of the feather part and press the brown bottle onto it. Once that dries, cut out some long orange dangly legs. We taped them to the bottle but to make it more durable i'd probably glue it next time.
Glue on the turkey's face parts and add a popsicle stick to the inside of the bottle. I would recommend using a hot glue gun so it will last longer.
Time to play with your little turkey!
