Drinking water is pretty important to keep your body hydrated. Nothing will hydrate your body like water. When you are properly hydrated your body will function better. Not to mention the other benefits that come with drinking water right away in the morning. Here are some of my favorite benefits:
Drinking a large glass of water right when you wake up will fire up your metabolism. The initial spike will come down but, the benefits will hang around for a good portion of the day.
Since you aren’t drinking water while you are sleeping your body is dehydrated. It may not feel like it but, your body has been without for eight hours. Drinking water right away when you wake up will help to jump start staying hydrated throughout the day.
Flush Out Your System
Water helps your Kidneys to function at their highest level. Drinking water as soon as you wake up will flush out those toxins that have built up over night.
Drinking a full glass of water as soon as you get up in the morning will make you feel full causing you to eat less. Not only will you eat less at breakfast but, it may help to keep you from snacking before lunch as well.
In order for this to take full effect before to wait a minimum of 15 minutes before you eat.
Your brain is ¾ water. This means that if you aren’t properly hydrated your brain won’t function at its best. You may experience fatigued, uneven moods and generally be tired.
One of the main causes of constipation is dehydration. Drinking an entire glass of water when you wake up in the morning will help to relieve the constipation.
How Much Water Should I Drink?
There isn’t really one perfect amount of water for every person. You should for sure drink at least one glass but, I have seen upwards of one liter. Even a little is better than not drinking any so start with what feels comfortable.
Your lymph system regulates the fluids within your body and is responsible for fighting infections that enter your body. Drinking water in the morning helps to balance out your lymph system.
Overnight the lack of food in the stomach can lead to heartburn in the morning. Drinking water as soon as you wake up, can help to reduce the acid and feeling of heartburn.
These are the most common reasons that drinking water right after you wake up can help your body. If you were on the fence about it, now is the time to start. Drinking water as soon as you wake up has so many health benefits that it can’t hurt to do it. It will take time to see the full benefits but, it is so worth it.
