Silk Dyed Easter Eggs Using a Tie

Here’s a unique idea for dying Easter eggs with the kids this year! Get out dad’s old silk ties or go thrift store shopping to get awesome patterns.

You Will Need:
- Hard boiled Eggs (No need to prep them in anyway)
- Vinegar
- Rubber bands
- Old ties (We get ours from the thrift store. Â Make sure that they are 100% silk)
- White cotton fabric (I used a flour sack. Â You can get them super cheap! In the past I have also cut up an old t-shirt that my son outgrew. Â Just about anything will work!)

How To Make Them:
- In a large pot, fill with water and about 2 cups of vinegar. Â Bring to a boil.
- Prepare your ties! Â You will want to cut down the center of the back of the tie to open it up. Â Then, remove the inside lining piece. Your tie should lay flat when you are finished. Â
- Cut a square large enough to wrap the egg in from the bottom, widest part of your tie. Place your egg on the front of the tie and tightly wrap the egg.
- Secure with a rubber band.  (Or if you can’t find your rubber bands like us, you can use a hair tie!)
- Cut a piece of the white flour sack to wrap around the egg and do it over the tie.
- Drop your eggs into your boiling water and boil for about 20 minutes.
- Remove from the water and let cool. Â Then, unwrap!
