Here's a unique idea for dying Easter eggs with the kids this year! Get out dad's old silk ties or go thrift store shopping to get awesome patterns.

You Will Need:

  • Hard boiled Eggs (No need to prep them in anyway)
  • Vinegar
  • Rubber bands
  • Old ties (We get ours from the thrift store.  Make sure that they are 100% silk)
  • White cotton fabric (I used a flour sack.  You can get them super cheap! In the past I have also cut up an old t-shirt that my son outgrew.  Just about anything will work!)

How To Make Them:

  1. In a large pot, fill with water and about 2 cups of vinegar.  Bring to a boil.
  2. Prepare your ties!  You will want to cut down the center of the back of the tie to open it up.  Then, remove the inside lining piece. Your tie should lay flat when you are finished.
  3. Cut a square large enough to wrap the egg in from the bottom, widest part of your tie. Place your egg on the front of the tie and tightly wrap the egg.
  4. Secure with a rubber band.  (Or if you can’t find your rubber bands like us, you can use a hair tie!)
  5. Cut a piece of the white flour sack to wrap around the egg and do it over the tie.
  6. Drop your eggs into your boiling water and boil for about 20 minutes.
  7. Remove from the water and let cool.  Then, unwrap!
