After my 3 ingredient orange chicken recipe became so popular, I decided to try this sweet and sour chicken sauce recipe! I have to say I was baffled at how much easier this was than my normal recipe, and yet how incredibly delish! The glaze is perfectly sticky, sweet and sour. I think you will love this one if you're a chinese food fan!
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 - 10 oz jar apricot preserves (could also use pineapple)
- ⅓ cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1.5 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
Bring to a simmer and cook until a thin glaze forms, about 10 minutes, be sure to stir occasionally. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
Chicken Ingredients:
- 1 c. flour
- ½ c. cornstarch
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1.5 c. cold water
- 2 chicken breasts - cubed
Whisk or blend everything but the chicken breasts, and then generously coat the chicken. Fry at 360 degrees until golden and crispy. Toss with the sauce and serve over rice with scallions or sesame seeds. Enjoy :)
Yes, the sauce really only takes 3 simple ingredients!
You could also pour this sauce over crockpot chicken but I prefer mine crispy!
