I wanted to share one of my favorite art projects of all time! It is from a lovely lady named Olivia and I found her on Instagram <----follow her! They made some bright and colorful mermaid sock tails! I had seen the cardboard ones before but using doilies as the scales is just genius. I think they would be great for pretend play in the classroom for any young age!

Materials Needed:

  • Paint
  • Doilies
  • Cardboard
  • Ribbon
  • Glue / Scissors
  • Sock

Olivia said they cut out mermaid tail shapes from a piece of cardboard then painted it. Then they cut out two small holes at the top for a ribbon to go through (you lightly tie it around the kids ankles). Paint doilies then cut them up and glue them on to look like scales! Have the kids put on a colorful stretchy sock and put both legs in! SO cute!
