Dryer sheets work great for removing static from your clothes while in the dryer but, they also have oodles of other uses as well. Whether it is a new dryer sheet or a used one, there is sure to be another use for it somewhere around the house. Check out our dryer sheet hacks below:
Pet Hair
Pets are amazing but, the fur they leave behind can be a pain sometimes. Take a used dryer sheet and wipe it across the area where the pet hair is. Whether it be on your clothes or furniture, the dryer sheet with get rid of the pet hair easily.
Mice
If mice are an issue at your house, a used dryer sheet can help deter them. Find the spot they are coming in and put a used dryer sheet or two in the hole. They won’t chew through it due to the scent. As a bonus it may even keep other rodents at bay as well.
Soap Scum
Glass shower doors tend to build up soap scum and it can be difficult to get it off. Use an old dryer sheet, get it damp and clean the soap scum off of the shower door.
Vacuum
Placing a used dryer sheet in the bag of your vacuum will help your whole house smell fresh and clean. This trick can also work in the bagless vacuums if you put a dryer sheet in the collection container.
Sewing
When you are sewing, take a dryer sheet and run the thread through it. Doing this will help minimize the tangling of the string.
In the Car
Instead of putting a regular air freshener in your car, place a few used sheets under the seats.
Hair
On those days you just can’t seem to tame the static, wipe a used dryer sheet over your hair. Doing so will tame the static easily.
Baseboards
Use a new dryer sheet and clean the dust off of your baseboards. It may take some elbow grease the first time but, after a few wipe downs, the amount of dust build up is minimal. Plus, it wipes off really easily.
Dresser Drawers
Placing a new dryer sheet in your dresser drawers will help to keep the fresh laundry smell a bit longer.
Hamper
Putting a few dryer sheets in your hamper can help keep the dirty laundry smell less noticeable.
Traveling
Place a dryer sheet between a few of your items inside your suitcase. Not only will this keep your clothes smelling fresh for you but, it will also help eliminate the possibility of your clothes retaining the musty old luggage smell.
Crafting
Using a dryer sheet will help provide reinforcements for any appliques or quilts you are working on.
Paint Brushes
Latex paint can be difficult to get off of the paint brushes when you are done. Add a dryer sheet to warm water and soak the paint brushes in there. The paint will easily come off.
Storage
For those items that you don’t use often and have no choice but to store them, place a dryer sheet or two in there to keep the musty smell out.
Dusting
Use a dryer sheet on all of those surfaces that collect dust. Not only will it wipe away the dust that is currently there but, it will help keep the dust from settling there as quickly.
Stinky Shoes
Keep shoes from stinking by putting a new dryer sheet in the shoe when you aren’t wearing it. Just tuck the sheet up by the toes and leave it until you need the shoes next.
Deodorant Marks
You know those pesky deodorant marks that somehow manage to get on the outside of your clothes? No matter how hard you try not to? A few swipes of a dryer sheet and those marks are gone.
