Non candy trick or treat goodies to hand out this Halloween
Halloween is a favorite holiday for both kids and adults alike. Kiddos love dressing up as their favorite characters, or creepy monsters, and even more so, they love getting free goodies! As for the adults, there is something exciting about seeing the various costumes that visit their doorsteps. Unfortunately, due to the allergies some kiddos have, certain candies are no longer safe to hand out, nor is it healthy for children to have an entire bag of candy to munch on. Instead of handing out candy to your trick or treaters this year, consider handing out some of these other goodies, instead.
Stickers make a great item to hand out, as you can buy them in bulk, and let the kiddos dig through a basket of them, just like at the doctor’s office. You can also purchase sticker books. Either tear our groups of stickers, or place whole sticker sheets in your basket.
Yellow pencils are boring and plain. Consider getting Halloween themed pencils, or a variety of pencils with different designs to hand out to the kids. Just be sure to opt for the unsharpened ones, to keep everyone from getting poked. And don’t forget to mix in some colorful and fun shaped erasers into the bowl!
Party favor sized bubbles are great to have on hand for your little ghouls and goblins. Little ones will be delighted to see bubbles again, now that summer is over.
Coupons
Ask nearby business if they offer coupons or vouchers that you can give away. McDonald’s will usually sell coupon books around Halloween for free treats, or maybe one of the nearby gymnastics or fun centers will have something similar to hand out.
Do you remember those tattoos that you would get as a child? The ones that you apply by just placing it on your arm with a warm, wet towel? You loved them, and so will your neighbor kids!
Drink Mixes
Cooler weather is the best time for hot cocoa. In fact, many cities actually get downright chilly by Halloween. Pass out packets of hot chocolate, and cider mixes that the kids can enjoy, as they sort through their loot at home.
You can find an assortment of miniature stamps at most local craft stores. Look for the ones with ink that have lids on them.
Neon glow sticks are perfect to help keep kiddos safe as the sun sets. Better yet, look for tubes of glow bracelets to hand out. These are especially nice to have on hand for the older kids.
