Salt Art for Kids: Spring Tulips

Today I decided to do some experimenting with salt art! It’s perfect for giving these spring tulips some texture. You could also make any other type of flower. The blue/purple combination worked the best for the table salt. I think using kosher or bigger salt would make a cooler effect though.

Start by painting tulip shapes with watercolors. We mixed orange/red and blue/purple together. Pour a generous amount of salt on top of them and let it completely dry. You can paint on the green stems and leaves while they dry too.

Once the paint is dry, shake off the salt with your hand. To make the grass just paint a lot of “X’s” towards the bottom. Beautiful!
