I made these Harry Potter Inspired Edible Wands & Golden Snitches for my twin daughters' Devyn & Jordan's 9th Harry Potter Themed Birthday Party.  Everyone loved them.  They were tasty & fun.  They will cast a spell on your taste buds as well!

Wands:

You will need:

  • 1 ½ C flour
  • ¾ C butter
  • ½ TBS vanilla
  • ½ C sugar
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • Red, yellow, blue, & green food coloring
  • Melting chocolate

Now you need to:

  1. Using an electric mixer cream together the butter & sugar.
  2. Mix in vanilla & salt.
  3. Slowly add the flour.
  4. The mixture will be crumbly.  Add a little water at a time until the dough holds together nicely.
  5. Split the dough into 4 even parts. Place each piece into a small bowl.  Add a different color of food coloring to each piece of dough.
  6. Kneed until the food color is thoroughly worked through the dough.
  7. Freeze the dough for 45-60 minutes.
  8. Break off a small piece of dough & roll between hands making one end slightly bigger.
  9. Continue this until you run out of dough.
  10. Wrap in plastic wrap (making sure to keep the dough from touching, it will freeze together) and freeze overnight.
  11. Melt chocolate in rectangular bowl.
  12. Coat each wand in chocolate & place on wax paper.  Make sure to work fast because the dough softens quickly.

Golden Snitches:

Your will need:

  • ½ C butter
  • 1 C flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ C sugar
  • ¼ C light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ C semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Gold food spray
  • White melting chocolate

Now you need to:

  1. Using an electric mixer cream together the butter & sugar.
  2. Stir in the light brown sugar.
  3. Mix in vanilla & baking powder.
  4. Slowly add the flour.
  5.  Mix in the the chocolate chips.
  6. Again the dough will be crumbly.  Slowly add water until the dough holds together well.
  7. Freeze for 45-60 minutes.
  8. Roll the dough into small ½ inch balls.  Freeze over night.
  9. Melt chocolate in a bowl.
  10. Dip each dough ball into the chocolate & place on wax paper.
  11. Once dry spray with the gold food coloring.  Let dry, then add a second coat.
  12. Allow to dry.

Enjoy casting some delicious spells & catching a tasty snitch or two!!!
