The best part about fall is the apples are in season! If you could spare one of them for art, try this apple stamping tree craft with your kids! It's a unique painting idea that represents the tree's leaves. This art project can definitely be done by toddlers and preschoolers as well!

Materials Needed:

  • 1 small apple
  • Tree printable #1 (you have to save the image on your computer and then print)
  • Red, orange, brown, and yellow paint
  • Knife (cutting)

Start by cutting an apple in half. Print off a fall tree coloring page or draw your own on a white piece of paper!

Have the kids dip their apples in paint and stamp it on top of the tree making the "leaves." We washed off one apple when switching from yellow to orange paint. Finish the art project by painting the tree trunk brown and let dry!

I do this project with my first grade class. We stick a fork in the back of each apple for easier handling and make patterns with different colors.
