Best Decongestant for Sinuses

If you or a family member is suffering from a cold these are the best things to make! Just whip up a batch and keep them in a zip-loc in the freezer. Whenever someone is sick, just throw one in their shower and feel the relief!

I also have another recipe for making lavender decongestant shower melts to try!

If you don't want to deal with all those sinus sprays, this is the perfect alternative. I love to use them with my son because it doesn't involve any medicine for him to consume. He literally just has to breathe normal in the hot shower. You can even just have the kids sit in the bathroom (not in the shower) and let the water run as hot as it goes to steam up the room.

I've always looked for natural ways to clear sinuses and this is my favorite one! Although it's not a permanent fix, it'll make you feel 100x better for the time being.

Decongestant Shower Steamers

Ingredients

  • Ice Cube Tray
  • Water
  • Eucalyptus Essential Oil
  • Peppermint Essential Oil

Instructions

  • Clean and prepare your ice cube tray. Fill almost full with water. You might add a bit of food coloring to make sure they don't look like ice cube for drinks.
  • In each segment, use a pipette or your essential oil bottle to drop 3 drops eucalyptus oil and 1 drop of peppermint. Avoid touching the oils to your skin.
  • Allow mixture to freeze. You may see a bubble in the center where the oil is trapped.
  • Pop out frozen steamers and place on the floor of a hot shower! The steam and warmth will melt the steamer, releasing the decongestant oils!
